Our Story

A South Wellington local through and through, Tim Henderson’s passion for building started early — at just ten years old, helping on his parents’ house. By sixteen, he was already an apprentice, setting the foundation for what has become more than two decades of hands-on experience in the building trade.

With 24 years in the industry, Tim has built a reputation for craftsmanship, precision, and problem-solving. His background spans far beyond construction — from firefighting and maritime work to aviation — each chapter adding depth to his leadership, discipline, and practical know-how on site.

After hanging up his pilot’s hat in Darwin and returning home to Wellington in 2018 to start a family, Tim founded RG Carpentry with a clear vision: to offer homeowners a reliable, high-quality building service grounded in clear communication, technical skill, and long-term value.

Today, with the support of trusted industry professionals, Tim has expanded his work into two complementary companies — providing complete support from design and build through to property maintenance and repair. Known for tackling challenging and architecturally unique projects, he approaches every job with methodical precision and a deep respect for craftsmanship.

Whether navigating complex regulations or refining the smallest detail, Tim brings the same focus and curiosity that has guided him since childhood — building and maintaining homes that stand the test of time.

I highly recommend Tim ; He stepped in at relatively short notice to fix a rotten barge board discovered by my painters. It was a tricky job and it was accomplished quickly and very efficiently. Tim’s communication and attention to details are exemplary . His costing is reasonable.
